My name is Lisa Novakowski. My company is Aspect Arts Photography, and I’m a wedding and portrait photographer based out of Kamloops, British Columbia. I am a life and light photographer.
I am a “life” photographer in that I want my photos to be more than pretty posed photos of you and your loved ones. I’m not satisfied until I’ve captured who you really are, your personality, and your relationship to others in the photo. You know the saying "Eyes are the window to the soul"? Eyes say so much, and I try to capture a piece of my subject’s soul within the photograph, in the eyes, a moment remembered forever. That’s my final objective… to get past the images that are stiff and uncomfortable in front of a lens to catch a glimpse of the real and beautiful person within.
I am a “light” photographer in that I am fascinated with how light interacts with whatever it touches. Bright sunshine, dramatic theatre lights, overcast days, deep shadow, street lights at night, studio lighting, sunshine behind my subject (or backlighting) – each of these will dramatically alter the mood of a shoot. I enjoy discovering how I can make the light work for me in a given situation.
I prefer to keep a low profile during your special event, leaving YOU to be the center of attention. This approach means I capture a more “photojournalistic” side to what’s going on, steering away from posed “say cheese” photos, and looking instead to capture the natural interactions of people. Many brides choose to include family portraits during the day, so I make sure we cover these as well. I will meet with you prior to your event so we can discuss all the details that make your day YOUR DAY.
When it comes to family & portrait photography I definitely favour outdoor photo sessions. Making natural beauty part of my backdrop is integral to my style. I have been delving into studio photography these days as well, and I am finding it to be fun and challenging.
I am currently accepting wedding bookings for 2010. Click on the “Contact” button at the top of the page to drop me a line.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
Feedback on what you have seen here is always welcome!
Yours,
Lisa
